About event
Long, long ago, in a faraway country, the world came to an end for women. This is their story, their strength, their struggle for survival and their pain. "Underground Girls" is an exploration of freedom and oppression. The project "Underground Girls" is based on Jenny Nordberg's book "The Underground Girls of Kabul: In Search of a Hidden Resistance in Afghanistan," as well as on interviews with Afghan refugee women and with people who still live in Afghanistan after August 2021. The production attempts to answer the questions: why does society favor men? Why is it still so difficult for us to accept that a man and a woman can be equal? "Underground Girls" explores the catastrophic consequences of depriving women of freedom. Today, women are fighting for basic human rights, for the freedom to be independent, educated, and to determine their own destiny. The production is an attempt to give a voice to those whose cries we are not yet willing to hear.
