About event
When a child was a child,
He did not know he was a child,
Everything around had a soul
And all souls were one…
(Peter Handke)
We all have key memories from childhood or early youth: when the trees were bigger, the colors seemed brighter, and any events happening to us felt like the most important and unrepeatable ones — never, nowhere, to anyone else. Everything was very sharp, leaving, as it seemed to us then, marks that would last forever.
But after five, ten, or however many years, we try to look back toward that direction, those places, those faces — and… scents arise? Silhouettes? Patches of light surrounding us? A sweet, aching uncertainty, filled with the sensation of drying moisture at the tips of our fingers and in the corners of our eyes. Though this may be too personal, and quite different for everyone. We made a production about this, but perhaps it turned out to be about something else, and something more…
Our "Hey, Belyash" is a dream glimpsed through the story of a fifteen-year-old boy who felt, for the first time, what it means to lose and to find.
